Resolve conflicts with empathy and respect.
Mediation services
Our approach : Empathy. Dialogue. Resolution.
At Speak Up Mediation Services, we believe conflict is a part of life—but how we handle it makes all the difference. Mediation offers a respectful, confidential, and practical path to resolving disputes without going to court.
Whether you’re navigating family challenges, workplace tensions, or misunderstandings rooted in cultural differences, mediation gives you the opportunity to reach agreements through open dialogue, neutral facilitation, mutual respect and in confidentiality.
What is Mediation?
Mediation is a flexible, confidential process used to settle disputes or difficulties between two or more people. It is guided by an independent and impartial third party—the mediator—who supports participants in having structured, respectful conversations about the issues at hand. Through this process, parties explore their needs, clarify misunderstandings, and work toward a solution that is mutually acceptable.
Mediation is not about deciding who is right or wrong. It is not a “trial run” before going to court, nor a shortcut to litigation. It is a distinct, collaborative approach to resolving conflicts in a way that is constructive, non-adversarial, and practical.

Core Principles of Mediation?
- Voluntary: No one is forced to mediate or to reach an agreement.
- Impartial: The mediator does not take sides or make decisions.
- Confidential: What is said in mediation stays private.
- Self-determined: The outcome is designed and agreed upon by the parties themselves—nothing is imposed.

Why Mediation Works?
Mediation is more than just an alternative to court—it’s a different way of thinking about conflict. Instead of focusing on blame or winning, mediation creates space for meaningful dialogue, informed decisions, and tailored solutions.
At Speak Up Mediation Services, we work with you—not for you—to resolve disputes in a way that is respectful, confidential, and fully under your control.
Here’s why so many people choose mediation:
- You stay in control
- The process moves at your pace. You decide what’s discussed and what’s agreed—nothing happens without your consent.
- It saves time and money
- Mediation avoids lengthy legal procedures. Most cases are resolved in a few sessions, with significantly lower costs.
- It’s private and secure
- Everything shared is confidential. You can speak openly, knowing it stays between those in the room.
- It supports real understanding
- Mediation helps uncover what really matters—not just the surface issue—and makes space for creative, lasting agreements.
- It preserves relationships
- Whether at home, at work, or in community settings, mediation supports respectful conversations that can heal and rebuild.
- It’s culturally sensitive
- Our approach recognises how language, culture, and background shape how we communicate. SUMS creates space for everyone to feel heard and understood.

If you’re dealing with tension, miscommunication, or disagreement—whether in your family, workplace, organisation or community—mediation may be the step that helps you move from conflict to clarity.

Meet our founder
Yuriria Herrera is the founder and lead mediator at Speak Up Mediation Services, where she combines a rich professional background in law, cross-cultural awareness, and a deep belief in the power of dialogue to transform conflict.
Accredited as a mediator in Ireland and with over a decade of legal experience in both Mexico and Ireland, Yuriria brings a thoughtful, informed, and highly professional approach to every mediation process. In addition to her mediation practice, she works as a legal executive and immigration practitioner in Ireland, giving her unique insight into the real-life complexities that many clients—particularly from migrant communities—face.
While her legal expertise informs her ability to analyse conflict dynamics and manage sensitive situations with professionalism and clarity, she does not provide legal advice or represent any party in her role as a mediator. Mediation at Speak Up is always neutral, voluntary, and client-driven. When legal guidance is needed, Yuriria encourages participants to seek independent legal advice through their own solicitor.

Testimonials
I’m Argentine and living in Dublin, and sometimes it can be hard to find support in Spanish… Working with Yuriria was such a huge relief! I felt understood, supported, and very well guided at all times — whether in person, over the phone, or by message. She’s a very kind, approachable, and dedicated professional. Sharing the same language and cultural background made all the difference. I highly recommend her!
As a separated parent going through a sensitive family situation, having Yuriria as a mediator made all the difference. From day one, I felt heard, supported, and understood without pressure or judgment. She helped guide the process clearly and calmly, which made everything feel much more manageable. Her experience working with international families was especially helpful, as she truly understands the added layers that can come with cross cultural dynamics. I would confidently recommend her to anyone looking for professional, human support during family transitions.
Going through a difficult time is never easy, but finding Yuri, truly made a difference. From the moment I reached out, I felt supported, respected, and genuinely listened to.
She was patient and created a safe space where I could speak openly without fear of judgment.
I’m deeply grateful for the care and dedication shown throughout the process. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her service to anyone facing a tough situation. Sometimes, the right help at the right time can change everything, and for me, this was it.
